What is Hsk Tool Holder
HSK Tool Holder is the Bing of high-speed cutting tool, and high-speed cutting has become an important part of mechanical processing and manufacturing technology. After many revisions, ISO promulgated the formal ISO standard ISO12164 for HSK tool system in 2001.
At present, HSK (German Hohl Shaft Kegel abbreviation) tool system, KM tool system in the United States, NC5 in Japan, BIG-PLUS tool system and so on are widely used in high-speed cutting, which belong to two-sided constraint TOOL HOLDER.

Introduction of HSK Tool Holder
High-speed cutting has become an important part of machining and manufacturing technology. The processing performance of traditional BT tool system has been difficult to meet the requirements of high-speed cutting.
The cutting tool system can be machined at high speed, which should satisfy the following basic conditions:

1. Higher system accuracy
The accuracy of the system includes the accuracy of positioning and clamping of the system and the accuracy of repeated positioning of the tool. The former refers to the accuracy of the connection between the tool and the tool handle, and between the tool handle and the spindle of the machine tool; the latter refers to the consistency of the accuracy of the tool system after each tool change. The tool system has high system precision, so that the static and dynamic stability of the tool system can be guaranteed under the condition of high-speed machining.

2. Higher system stiffness
The static and dynamic stiffness of the tool system is an important factor affecting the machining accuracy and cutting performance. Insufficient stiffness of the tool system will lead to vibration of the tool system, which will reduce the machining accuracy, worsen the tool wear and reduce the service life of the tool.

3. Better Dynamic Balance
Under the condition of high-speed cutting, the imbalance of micro-mass will cause huge centrifugal force, which will cause the sharp vibration of machine tools in the process of machining. Therefore, the dynamic balance of high-speed tool system is very important.

Development of HSK Tool System Standards
Since 1987, more than 30 special working groups have been set up by the machine tool Laboratory of Ahern University of Technology, Germany, as well as some tool manufacturers, machine tool manufacturers and user enterprises. Under the leadership of Professor M. Weck, the research and development of new tool systems have begun. After the first round of research, in July 1990, the working group submitted to the German Industrial Standards Organization the standard proposal of "automatic tool changing hollow handle". In July 1991, Germany published the draft DIN standard for HSK tool system, and recommended to ISO to formulate relevant ISO standards. In May 1992, ISOT/TC29 (Tool Technical Committee) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) decided not to formulate the ISO standard for automatic tool changing hollow handle for the time being. After the second round of study by the working group, Germany formulated the formal industrial standard DIN69893 for HSK tool system in 1993. In May 1996, at the ISO/TC29/WG33 Review Conference, the ISO standard draft of HSK tool system based on DIN69893 was formulated, ISO/DIS12164. After many revisions, the formal ISO standard ISO12164 for HSK tool system was promulgated in 2001.
