What is the difference between BT and JT

Most JT tool holders have internal cooling channels to support cooling in the center of the spindle or (and) in the face of the spindle. The main structure is shown in the figure below. BT handle is Japanese standard, shoulder size is larger than JT, so the tool weight is increased. There is positioning on 180 degree circle, and there is no positioning gap unfavorable to dynamic balance. Most of the BT handles do not have internal cooling channels, and some can provide BT TOOL HOLDER with internal cooling channels. However, due to the thinner neck of the studs (especially BT40 and below), increasing the cooling channels in the center may lead to the breakage of the studs and the risk of the handle falling off. There is little difference in principle. However, the actual use must be clearly distinguished and can not be mistaken.
BT machine tools can not use JT toolholder, JT machine tools can not use BT toolholder. Most European machine tools are equipped with JT class, such as din69871. Most of JT in Europe can choose to have central cooling or spindle end face internal cooling. Most of the standard machine tools in Japan, Korea and Taiwan are BT. Most of the BT toolholders do not have internal cooling due to the thin neck of the rivet. Because if the pull pin with internal cold hole, the cross-sectional area may be too small, the strength will not be enough.
