Inspection standard for tool holder of machining center

With the rapid development of China's CNC machine tool industry and more and more imported machine tools, many of these machine tools and tools come from all over the world and have various models and standards. The tool handle is the link between machine tools and tools. For the TOOL HOLDER, there are many parameters to be tested, but the very important parameters are the conical angle of the taper handle and the circular runout of the Tool Holder. Let's talk about the inspection standard of tool handle of machining center!

1. Taper tolerance of shank taper

In the standard of conicity tolerance, strict tolerance grades are used to limit and ensure the accuracy of the size, end diameter, cone length and taper of the tool handle. The taper accuracy of the tool is a necessary condition to ensure that the conical surface of the tool handle is closely combined with the main shaft wall of the machine tool. It can effectively prevent and absorb the vibration and resistance generated during cutting, and make the cutting force borne by all parts of the tool uniform, so as to greatly improve the service life of the main shaft and tool of the machine tool and improve the surface roughness of the workpiece.

2. Circular runout of tool holder

Another important inspection parameter of the tool holder is the circular runout of the tool holder. It is usually measured at the end face of the tool holder.

Another expression is the circular jump at 3XD (5xd). The latter is closer to the true circular runout at the cutting edge of the tool.


As we all know, in the machining process, especially in high-speed cutting, if the circumferential runout of the tool is too large, it will cause a series of very bad consequences. For example, rapid tool wear and rough workpiece surface may cause serious consequences such as vibration and spindle damage.

The first thing to choose the tool handle: there are many questions when choosing the tool handle of the machining center. We should pay attention to the following: the selection of the tool handle layout needs to consider a variety of elements. For some simple tools that are reused for a long time and do not need to be assembled, such as Face Milling Cutter handle, Spring Collet handle and drill collet handle used for processing on the outer contour of parts, it is appropriate to be equipped with integral tool handle. In this way, things are rigid and cheap. When machining many kinds and small batches of parts whose hole diameter and hole depth often change, it is appropriate to select modular things. This can replace many integral boring tool handles.
