There are so many types of tool holders. Which one to choose?

People who have done numerical control are no strangers to the tool handle. We all know that the tool handle is a spindle connecting tools, so it is a very important part. For different types, the handle models are also different. There are many kinds of tool handles. At present, the main standards include btskcaptobbthsk and other tool handle models. There are so many types of hilts. Which one is better?

SK is the standard spindle in Germany. BT and SK are simple and popular spindle connection standards, which are widely used in mold industry, high-speed engraving machine and other fields. HSK type belongs to the spindle standard born for high-speed needs in the later stage. It can process normally under the condition of 30000 or 40000 revolutions, providing work guarantee for high-precision workpieces. Traditional tool handles include Er type, strong type, side fixed type, plane milling cutter type, DRILL CHUCK and Morse taper handle, while modern ones include hydraulic, thermal expansion and cold pressing. Now let's introduce the application and characteristics of different kinds of tool handles.



HSK type, HSK tool system is a new type of short conical tool handle. Its interface adopts the way of simultaneous positioning of conical surface and end face. The tool handle is hollow, the length of vertebral body is short, and the taper is one tenth, which is conducive to the realization of light and high-speed tool change. Because the hollow cone and end face positioning are adopted, the radial deformation difference between the spindle hole and the shank of the cutter during high-speed machining is compensated, and the error of axial positioning is completely eliminated, which makes high-speed and high-precision machining possible. The handle of this kind of cutter is more and more widely used in high-speed machining centers.



Km type, which is similar to HSK type, also adopts hollow short cone structure with a taper of one tenth, and also adopts the working mode of simultaneous positioning and clamping of cone surface and end face. The main difference is that the clamping mechanism used is different. The clamping structure of KM has been applied for a patent in the United States. It uses greater clamping force and higher stiffness of the system. However, because there are two symmetrical circular arc grooves on the conical surface of the handle of KM cutter, it is relatively thin by comparison. Some parts have poor strength, and it needs very large clamping force to work normally.



Capto type, this type of structure is not a cone, but a triangular cone. Its edge is circular arc, the taper is one twentieth, and it is also a hollow short cone structure. Its conical surface is in contact with the end face at the same time. This structure can realize the torque transmission without sliding in both directions, and the transmission key is no longer needed, so the balance problem caused by the transmission key and keyway is eliminated. The handle has a wide range of uses and many models. In our cognition, wooden handle is very common. Nowadays, a variety of handle models in some high-tech mechanical equipment have also contributed to the social and economic development.
