Which type of HSK toolholder is better? What is the difference between type A and type E?

Hsk Tool Holder, which is the most representative of double-sided clamping tool holders, is more and more widely used in high-speed machining. The machining performance of the traditional BT tool system has been difficult to meet the requirements of high-speed cutting.

HSK vacuum TOOL HOLDER can improve the rigidity and stability of the system and the product accuracy in high-speed machining, and shorten the tool replacement time. It plays a very important role in high-speed machining. It is suitable for the spindle speed of machine tool to reach 60000 rpm. HSK tool system is widely used in aerospace, automobile, precision die and other manufacturing industries.

HSK tool handles have various specifications such as type A, type B, type C, type D, type E and type F, among which type A, type E and type F are commonly used in machining centers (automatic tool change).

Difference between type A and type E:

1. Type A has a transmission groove, while type E does not. Therefore, relatively speaking, the transmission torque of type A is large, and some heavy cutting can be carried out relatively. The torque transmitted by E-type is relatively small, and only some light cutting can be carried out.

2. Besides the transmission groove, there are also manual fixing holes and direction grooves on the A-type tool handle, so the balance is relatively poor. The E-type does not, so the E-type is more suitable for high-speed machining. The mechanisms of type E and type F are exactly the same. The difference between them is that the taper of type F tool handle is smaller than that of type E and type F tool handle (such as E63 and f63). That is to say, the flange diameters of E63 and f63 are the same φ 63, but the cone size of f63 is only the same as that of E50. Therefore, compared with E63, the speed of f63 will be faster (the main shaft bearing is small).

Under the same product quality, why is the axial and radial rigidity of HSK shank better than that of BT, SK and cat?

Different from BT, SK and cat tool handles, the core of HSK tool handle is hollow, and its clamping action takes place inside (as shown in the following dynamic diagram). Assuming that the pulling force of the claw is the same, the clamping force generated on the flange of HSK tool handle is twice that of BT, SK and cat tool handles. This additional clamping force will make the radial rigidity of HSK tool handle five times that of other tool handles. This makes the bending resistance of the tool better, so that large cutting depth and high feed can be used in milling and boring.
